"Island Under The Sea" was created from an airplane. I was flying back to Florida fro Italy. The sky, water, clouds, and light were exquisite that day. I was moved to tears by the beauty and my sense of awe. I practice mindful photography. I hadn't planned to photograph form my widow seat. But then the sky and the sea called to me. I started out taking snapshots with my iPhone. Then I remembered that I had my good camera in my carry on bag. I started taking pictures. I began to imagine filling a room with my photographs of the clouds, sky , and sea. My long transatlantic flight passed in a blink of a moment outside of time. I could not stop taking pictures and experiencing the beauty. Then, when we flew over the Bahamas, this island under the sea emerged. It's one of my favorite images from this series. Louise Lindsay is a photographer, living in the Florida Keys, and spending some time in the mountains of North Carolina. She practices mindful photography, sometimes known as contemplative photography. Mindful photography involves the practice of being as fully present as possible in the moment of creating an image. The subjects range from landscapes, seascapes, street photography, macro and flower photography, to nature photography, to almost anything. Louise focuses on the encounter within the moment of creating the image, both her encounter with the "subject" of the image, and the eventual encounter a viewer has with the image.
