"Haven't You Noticed The Butterflies?" has special meaning to me. My mom told me before she died that she would find a way to connect with me after she died, maybe with something like "butterfly kisses". On her birthday, I was still waiting for the touch of a butterfly kiss when I found myself surrounded by butterflies in the woods. I laughed, as the experience nudge me to look at what was surrounding me. "Haven't you noticed the butterflies!" March 2018 is the tenth anniversary of my mom's death and leave-taking. I practice mindful photography. Occasionally I go in search of butterflies, but every ow and then, I am blessed with encounters with real butterflies that touch me in a special way. This Paper White butterfly emerged from the foliage, glowing in the light. She seemed to be playing music with the red penta flowers. She held very still while I took her picture.

Louise Lindsay is a photographer, living in the Florida Keys, and spending some time in the mountains of North Carolina. She practices mindful photography, sometimes known as contemplative photography. Mindful photography involves the practice of being as fully present as possible in the moment of creating an image.
